• Dynamic, which means it can contain dynamic data with substitutions, property modifications and runtime scripting.
• Content Dependent, meaning that parts or all of the Fragment can contain data that depends on other content of the document. For example, the total number of pages the document contains in the output.
• Multipage, which is a static Fragment consisting of several pages. The whole overlay is only rendered once, thus enhancing performance. However, individual pages of the overlay can be referenced from different places in the document. In addition, the resulting output can be improved when using this option, as the pages are formatted outside of StoryTeller. This means that you can avoid that regions in some cases are clipped or that you get unexpected widths of custom texts.
Overlays that already are added can be set to multipage in the Properties panel, Fragment category, Multipage option.
2 In the Document, Page, or Story view, right-click where you want to add the Fragment and select Insert > Fragment.
3 Select the type of Fragment to re-use, for example Dynamic. The Insert Fragment dialog opens.
4 Browse to the file containing the Fragment, for example a StoryTeller document resource in your resource set.
You can use individual object within an SSD file as fragments, and you can browse to that individual object selecting the object as a fragment.
– For dynamic Fragments, specify the Name option.
– For static Fragments, specify the Page ID option. Page ID is a standard page identification property starting with 0 for the first page.Right-click the Fragment and select Embed Resource. The Fragment is now:This also means that any changes to the source document do not affect the embedded Fragment.
