Specifying language on a text segment or substitution
The language specified affects:
You can also specify the default language with an optional region/country code. This is the language used for new texts entered in the document. See Specifying default language on page 33.
You can also specify the default language to use to simulate runtime rendering of the document, e.g. to view the date format in a specific language during design-time. See To set the default language for substitutions in design-time on page 33.
To set language on a substitution

If you specify <Default>, the default language will be used. The default language is decided as follows:
If you have specified a language in Tools > Options > Processing simulation > Language, this language is the default language.
If you have not specified any language settings, or the only setting is that you have specified a variable for the processing language (in File > Processing Properties > General > Processing language), American English (en-US) is the default language.

To set language on a text segment

Do not set the Language property to <Default> for a text segment. The text will not have a language specified for it and you will get a validation warning when saving the document.
