Selecting external content dynamically

You can specify a modification on the URI set for a substitution referencing external content. For example, a StoryTeller document Story or an RTF, LXF or XHTML file.

To add dynamic data to external content references

1	Select the substitution of Repository or External content type.

2	In the Properties panel Data category, select the URI field.

3	In the Modification text field, click the browse button.

4	In the Data Selection dialog, either:

–	Browse to the field or variable with the value determining what content to render in runtime.

–	Enter an XPath manually.

Note:

If you use an XPath expression, enter it directly in the Modification text field.

You can remove or edit the modification later by selecting the Modification field in the Properties panel and removing or editing the data.

To add dynamic data to a Story in an external content reference

1	Select the substitution of External content type.

2	In the Properties panel Data category, select the Story name field.

3	In the Modification text field, click the browse button.

4	In the Data Selection dialog, either:

–	Browse to the field or variable with the value determining what content to render in runtime.

–	Enter an XPath manually.

Note:

If you use an XPath expression, enter it directly in the Modification text field.

You can remove or edit the modification later by selecting the Modification field in the Properties panel and removing or editing the data.
