Merging and splitting table cells in the same row You can merge cells in the same row and move the contents to the merged cell. You can also restore merged cells by splitting them. Note: When you restore merged cells, content is restored to the leftmost cell and not to the original cells. Example 3 Three cells in the same row are merged In this example, three cells containing D, E and F are merged into one cell. Example 4 Splitting the merged cells In this example, the three cells merged in previous example above are split. To merge cells in the same row 1 Click in the leftmost cell to merge. 2 Click the Merge table cells icon . The Merge table cells dialog box opens. 3 In the Cols field, enter the number of cells to merge. 4 Click Update. To restore table cells that have been merged 1 Click in the merged cell. 2 Click the Split merged table cells icon .
