Number/sign pattern elements

Syntax

num{…} or num(<locale name>){…}

If no sign pattern is given in a numeric pattern, the input value will be formatted as if there was an s just before the number pattern element.

 

Element
s	Empty string for positive value, minus sign for negative value.
S	Space for positive value, minus sign for negative value. Note: S is used for 1-2 digit value for “seconds” part in time picture clauses
db	Empty string for positive value, DB for negative value.
DB	Two spaces for positive value, DB for negative value.
cr	Empty string for positive value, CR for negative value.
CR	two spaces for positive value, CR for negative value.
(	Empty string for positive value, ( for negative value (used in some accounting practices). Note: Literal ( for non-numeric picture clauses.
)	Empty string for positive value, ) for negative value (used in some accounting practices). It should be paired with a ( element. Note: Literal ) for non-numeric picture clauses.
