This sets the current locale for the <pattern> to be the one named by the
<locale designator>. A locale designator is an IANA language tag (plus letting _ be interchangeable with -).
For example, sv is a locale designator for Swedish, and
sv_SE is a locale designator for Swedish as used in Sweden. The latter also implies a default currency of SEK.
Similarly, jp is a locale designator for Japanese,
jp_JA is a locale designator for Japanese in Japan. The latter also implies a default currency of JPY, as well as enables the use of Japanese eras.
