Find panel

The Find panel enables you to search through the Document for all kinds of objects and text.

 

Find properties
Find	In this combo-box, select the type of object you are searching for. Font – Select the font from the combo box, or enter a search string. See Font search strings on page 49. Text – Enter text to search for. Object type – Select an object type from the drop-down list. For example, to search for Sections, select this option and select Section in the drop-down list to the right. Modification – Enter the name a property to find objects that have modifications set on this property. Variable – Enter a variable name included in XPath expressions, stored page variables, or scripts (if you have specified to included scripts in your search). XPath – Enter an XPath that has been specified on a Substitution, Repeater, Switch or Modification. URI – Enter a URI that have been specified on images, Fragments or Substitutions. Translation – Enter a key that has been set on a translation substitution. Object ID – Enter a specific object Id. Language – Select language/country code from the drop-down list, or enter a language code with an optional country code (e.g. nl-NL for Dutch). An empty Find field returns all languages except for the default language. This means if no results are returned, only default language is used for all text. Color – Enter a color code to search for. For example: – CMYK – search for all CMYK colors. – RGB(>0, *, 0) – search for all RGB colors where R value is greater than 0, G value has any value, and B value is 0. Note: For the following object types, you can leave the search field empty to search for all objects of the selected type: Font, Modification, Variable, XPath, URI, and Translation, Language and Color.
Match case	Select if the query is case sensitive.
Match whole word	Select to only include results with the whole word. Note: For fonts, this applies to the whole font name. For example, specifying Arial does not return Arial Bold.
Not containing value	Select to find all objects except those with the specified value. For example, searching for Verdana font returns all objects that do not use the Verdana font.
Look in	Select the scope for your search: • The entire Document • Selected range of text/objects • Current view • Current Fragment (Requires that Fragment View or Fragment Story View is open)
Scripts	Select to include scripts in your search.
Resources	Select to include resources in your search. This includes both linked and embedded resources. Note: Only resources available from the Document at the time of search are included.
Function files	Select to include function files in your search. Note: Only included if StoryTeller is started from Design Center.
Results table
#	The sequence number of the result in the order of the document (from beginning of the document to the end).
Type	The object type.
SubType	Additional information about the object, or the owner object.
Name	If available, the name of the object.
Path	A path composed of the parent object names (if available) or object types. The path starts with the root object.
Value	The value of the object found, e.g. a word, a font and its size etc.
Content	E.g. the beginning of the text in the paragraph with returned text.
