You use tables for formatting text in a tabular fashion. You can also use a table to allow recurring fields from a block to be listed in a table. For example, you can create a table with two rows and the required number of columns, define the upper row to be a header row, and let the second row be a body row. In the body row, the Document Developer can specify the XPath to the block to make it a repeating row. You can also specify:
• That a field in a specific row sums the subtotal of the body rows on previous or current instances of the table. To let the table flow across several pages, you must add the table to a Story. You can select whether the table is in its own paragraph or if it shares the paragraph with other content. If the table is a paragraph object (default), it can overflow between story frames. If the table is an inline object, all of the table must fit inside one Story frame. You can also specify if the content of the cells in a table row can continue in next Story frame if the row is not large enough. Or, if all contents of the table row must be rendered in the same Story frame.
You can view a table separately by selecting a table, right-clicking and selecting Edit in Table View. In the Table View, you can view all row types including the types that only occurs when the table overflows, for example “All but First Instance”.
2 Click the Table toolbar button.
2 Click the Story View tab.
3 Right-click in the Story and select Insert > Table. A table is inserted in the Story inline with the rest of the Story content.
4 In the Properties panel Table category, specify whether the table is an Inline object or if the table is rendered as a separate Paragraph.
• Hold the pointer just to the left of the row until the pointer changes to a row selection pointer, and click.

3 Right-click the bottom row and select Insert > Row below. As many rows as you selected are inserted below the bottom row.
2 For example, to set the header row type with occurrence on all table instances except the first, right-click the row and select Row Type > Header > All but First Instance.
1 Set the row type to header or footer depending on if you want to display the subtotal from the current page (footer), or from the previous page (header).
2 In the field where you want to add the subtotal value, right-click and select Insert > Substitution.

8 In the Data Selection dialog, select the field that is used for calculating the subtotal value, and click OK.
