Starting the StoryTeller tool

The StoryTeller tool is included in the Design Center setup. Design Center can be installed separately on a computer or together with other StreamServe components.

The StoryTeller tool can be started either from Design Center where the content of the document created in the tool defines a StoryTeller Process. The tool can also be started stand-alone where you save the document content as an SSD file.

You can add StoryTeller SSD files to your resource set to use them as Fragment or template resources for StoryTeller documents.

To create a StoryTeller Process

1	In Design Center, right-click the message and select Add Process > StoryTeller. A StoryTeller process is created.

2	Double-click the Process to open the StoryTeller tool.

You can use a variable as the Process name, which evaluates during runtime to a file, e.g ../data/processes/STprocess2.ssd. Note: Be aware of that this can have implications on the server performance since the Process definition and the resources have to be reloaded every time the Process is invoked.

You can not use Composition Center enabled StoryTeller Processes with the same name in different Messages in a Project.

 

To start an existing StoryTeller process

In Design Center, double-click the StoryTeller process.

To start the StoryTeller tool as a resource editor

1	In Design Center, open the resource set.

2	Double-click the StoryTeller document resource.

To start the StoryTeller tool as a stand-alone application

From the Start menu, select All Programs > OpenText > StreamServe > Design > StoryTeller.

Note:

When you run StoryTeller as a stand-alone application, Message data is not directly available in the user interface. However, you can load a Message XML file into the Document when working stand-alone, or refer to Message data by explicitly specifying XPaths.

To start the StoryTeller tool from a command line

1	In a command line, browse to <StreamServe installation> \Services\StoryTeller\<version>\bin

2	Run StoryTeller.exe
