Installing StreamServe 5.6 in parallel with SP5 Hotfix 1684

This section describes how to install and start running StreamServe 5.6 in parallel with StreamServe Persuasion SP5 Hotfix 1684 or later.

The steps required to upgrade the SP5 enterprise repository to 5.6 depends on whether the Persuasion SP5 Hotfix 1684 is installed before or after StreamServe 5.6 is installed. See:

Persuasion SP5 Hotfix 1684 installed before StreamServe 5.6

Prerequisites

•	Persuasion SP5 Hotfix 1684 is installed and the hotfix is applied to the enterprise repository (via Apply hotfix in Control Center). For information about how to apply a hotfix, see StreamServe Persuasion SP5 Hotfix Installation Instructions.

•	All existing StreamServe SP5 software is closed.

To install StreamServe 5.6 in parallel with Persuasion SP5

•	Install the StreamServe 5.6 components on the computer.

To get started with StreamServe 5.6

1	Open the 5.6 version of Control Center.

2	In the Welcome to Control Center dialog box, review the informing and click OK.

3	In the Change Password dialog box, change the password for the Management Gateway Administrator and click OK.

You can now start running StreamServe 5.6 in parallel with StreamServe Persuasion SP5.

Persuasion SP5 Hotfix 1684 installed after StreamServe 5.6

Prerequisites

•	Persuasion SP5 Hotfix 1684 is yet not installed.

When you upgrade the enterprise repository to 5.6 without Hotfix TDB installed, the SP5 installation temporarily stops working. To get the SP5 installation up and running again, you must install Hotfix 1684.

•	All existing StreamServe SP5 software is closed.

To install StreamServe 5.6 in parallel with Persuasion SP5

•	Install the StreamServe 5.6 components on the computer.

To get started with StreamServe 5.6 (enterprise repository upgrade)

Note:

During the procedure below, you get several Control Center warnings. Review the information and click OK to close these warnings.

1	Open the 5.6 version of Control Center.

2	In the Welcome to Control Center dialog box, review the informing and click OK.

3	Right-click New Site (Disconnected) and select Configuration.

4	In the Change Password dialog box, change the password for the Management Gateway Administrator and click OK.

5	In the Enterprise Repository Configuration dialog box, verify that the settings to the existing enterprise repository are correct and click OK.

6	Right-click the site node and click Create Database.

7	In the Connect dialog box, connect to the site as the Management Gateway Administrator.

8	In the Create Database dialog box, in the Operation area, select Apply upgrade.

9	On the Select database list, click the existing enterprise repository.

10	Click Start to upgrade the enterprise repository to version 5.6.

11	In the Connect dialog box, enter the login details for the database administrator and click OK. The enterprise repository is upgraded to 5.6.

12	Click Close to close the Create Database dialog.

You can now start running your StreamServe 5.6 environment. To run the Persuasion SP5 environment, you must first apply SP5 Hotfix 1684.
