This section gives a brief overview of what each component is used for and how you install or configure the component. For more detailed descriptions of these components, see

To run StreamStudio you need a Java application server, for example Apache Tomcat. See the
Supported platforms and software documentation for a list of the supported Java application servers.
The service gateway is installed with Framework and StreamServer on both Windows and UNIX. The service gateway Windows service is called
StreamServe Service Gateway. The service gateway process is called
ServiceGateway.
The user directories can be connected to an existing directory server that supports the LDAP protocol. See the
Supported platforms and software documentation, for a list of the supported user directories.
This database stores output documents and related metadata used for the StreamStudio Collector web application. The default name for the Collector archive is
StrsCollector.
This database stores Composition Center resources and roles during the document design phase. The default name for the web content repository is
StrsWeb.
