Mapping document types and metadata
Before you can run your StreamServer application and store documents, you must map the document types and metadata that your StreamServer application uses to document models and properties in ELS.
In this section
About document type and metadata mapping
When you map document types and metadata, the management gateway copies a file called elsmap.xml to the working directories of the StreamServe applications and Archiver applications linked to the ELS connection profile.
During runtime, the StreamServe applications use the elsmap.xml file to find the document models and properties in ELS that correspond to the document types and metadata in the documents they are processing.
Adding new metadata or document types to a Project
If you add new metadata or document types to your Design Center Project after you have made the mapping, you must map these before you can run your StreamServe application.
Compatibility with 5.5 EP1 Projects
If you mapped document types and metadata with StreamServe 5.5 EP1, you can use the strselsmetadatamap.xml map file with newer versions of StreamServe applications. However, if you remap the document types and metadata with a StreamServe version later than 5.5 EP1, then the StreamServe application uses the new elsmap.xml and ignores the old strselsmetadatamap.xml file.
