Rules
In Composition Center, business users apply rules on document definitions and on content. The rules are evaluated when the StreamServer application generates documents.
Controlling document production
Rules applied on a document definition determine whether documents are generated or not. These rules are not evaluated when previewing to ensure that the document to preview is always generated.
To publish a document definition for batch document production, at least one document definition rule must be applied.
Controlling which content that is used in documents
Rules applied on content determine if content is included in generated documents. These rules are evaluated when previewing documents, which enables Composition Center users to simulate different scenarios. For example, when using different texts for different customer categories.
There are two ways of composing rules.
Composing rules in Composition Center
In Composition Center, business users can create simple rule statements consisting of:
One rule can contain one single statement or several statements.
For example:
Customer equal to Ericsson
Amount greater than 1000
Composing rules in Design Center
In Design Center, you can use scripting functions to create more advanced and flexible rules than the ones composed in Composition Center. For example, a rule that contains scripting functions for retrieving remote data.
The business user must upload the Design Center rules to Composition Center. The rules cannot be modified in Composition Center.
