XHTML filter support
XHTML filter support
The XHTML filter is used when referencing XHTML data from the StoryTeller Document. The filter supports the following:

Data URI scheme encoding for images. See Data URI scheme encoding for images.

CSS definition in HTML header, through HTML link element and through import by @import command.

Multiple class names in one class atribute

Grouped declaration of CSS

Note:
If the XHTML data does not specify a specific character style attribute for the contents, for example Font name or size, the character style attribute specified for the substitution is used.
Data URI scheme encoding for images
You can submit dynamic image data to StoryTeller without creating a temporary file. To do this you wrap the image as <html><img/></html> and process the substitution as Text type = Rich.
CSS overflow support
You can:
•
Specify how overflow is done for paragraphs in external content.
•
Insert page breaks.
The following CSS 2.1 properties are supported:

avoid – Not supported, thus ignored.
left – translates to Start position = In next Story frame paragraph property on the current paragraph.
right – translates to Start position = In next Story frame paragraph property on the current paragraph.
inherit – property is inherited from its parent element.
page-break-after
auto – no page break is forced
always – Area break generated after the paragraph.
avoid – Sets Keep with next to 1 line on a paragraph.
left – Area break generated after the paragraph.
right – Area break generated after the paragraph.
inherit – property is inherited from its parent element.
page-break-inside
auto - no page break is forced
avoid – translates to Keep lines together = All.
inherit – property is inherited from its parent element.
orphans
<integer> – Minimum number of lines in a block container that must be left at the bottom of a Story frame.
inherit – property is inherited from its parent element.
widows
<integer> – Minimum number of lines in a block container that must be left at the top of a Story frame.
inherit – property is inherited from its parent element.

Note:
Unrecognized tags do not stop conversion, but they are ignored. Tags can contain their own attributes and standard attribute “style”. Inline style definitions are supported.

The RGB color numeric specification is also supported.
Encoding
The XHTML filter supports XHTML files encoded by UTF-8.

Defines a table caption
The thead, tfoot and tbody elements enable you to group rows in a table. When you create a table, you might want to have a header row, some rows with data, and a row with totals at bottom. This division enables browsers to support scrolling of table bodies independently of the table header and footer. When long tables are printed, the table header and footer information may be repeated on each page that contains table data.
