Adding Message fields and variables
You can insert substitutions referencing either Message data or an external content definition, for example a StoryTeller document, an XHTML or an RTF file.
To add a substitution referencing Message data or a variable
1
In the Document, Page, or Story view, right-click the position to add the substitution and select Insert > Substitution. The Data Selection dialog opens.
2
Select Message or Variables.
3
Select the block, field, or variable for the substitution and click OK. A Text object with the substitution is created if the substitution is placed on the Document or Page view.
Note:
*
By selecting, e.g. a text range, and then dragging the Message data to that selection, the word is replaced by sample data from the Message.
If Message data is dragged to a substitution that is already defined, the sample data for the substitution is preserved unless there is sample data defined for the new substitution.
