Enabling text direction controls

You can enable the following user interface elements:

•	Paragraph direction toolbar buttons.

•	Direction property in Properties panel Paragraph and Table categories.

•	BiDi and Shaping property (None, Simple or Complex) in Properties panel Paragraph category. Use Simple for Arabic languages and Complex for Indic languages.

•	Table direction property in Insert Table dialog.

•	Caret indicating that right-to-left text is possible.

•	Arabic special characters in Special Characters dialog.

 

To enable the text direction controls

1	Select Tools > Options. The Options dialog opens.

2	Select General.

3	Select Use text direction controls.
