Managing documents

You can start the StoryTeller tool in three modes:

•	A Process tool in Design Center, where you edit the StoryTeller document within the Process and have access to the resource set.

•	A resource tool, for example to create Fragments or document templates.

•	A stand-alone tool, where you edit the StoryTeller document stored in a stand-alone file.

All modes support opening of the following file formats:

SSD – StreamServe Document Format

LXF – StreamServe internal XML format

TIFF – Image format

PDF – Adobe Portable Document Format. For font mapping, see PDF font mapping

XHTML format – A subset of the XHTML Specification

Note:

The StoryTeller tool does not support all tags and elements of XHTML. Also, a number of elements are mapped to supported tags and elements. See XHTML filter support.

RTF – Microsoft’s Rich Text Format.

Note:

The StoryTeller tool does not support all of the RTF specification.

You can specify to load the application configuration when you open an SSD file. See Saving and loading application configuration with a document.

PDF font mapping

You can map fonts explicitly in the pdfinfontmap_auto.tbl that is invoked by the PDFIN filter when loading a PDF file in StoryTeller.

The file can be located either in any of the following

•	The working directory of the exported Project.

•	In the ../data/tables folder relative to the working directory.

•	In the folder where the PDFIN.dll file is located.
