Deploying a web application directly from Control Center (Apache Tomcat only)

If the management gateway has write access to the Java application server, you can deploy the web applications directly from Control Center.

Adding a web application

Prerequisites

The management gateway that will deploy the WAR files must have:

•	Read access to the installation folder containing the WAR files.

•	Write access to the portal root on the Java application server.

Name requirements

The web application name must:

•	Only include ASCII characters (a-z, A-Z, 0-9).

•	Not include any white spaces.

•	Be unique within the application domain.

•	Be unique if you deploy several web applications to the same Java application server.

•	Not be the word applications.

To add a web application

1	Right-click the Web Applications folder and select New Web Application.

2	In the New Web Application dialog box, configure the web application.

3	In the Portal root box, enter the path to the directory on the Java application server to which the WAR files will be deployed. For example:

<TOMCAT_HOME>\webapps\

4	Click OK. The management gateway copies the WAR files to the portal root.

5	Make sure that all the WAR files are deployed as exploded WARs.

Note:

Unpacking WAR files might be time consuming.

Linking the web application to an application domain

You must link the web application to an application domain. You can link one web application to several application domains, but each application domain can only be linked to one web application of each type.

Prerequisites

•	All the WAR files in the portal root must be exploded.

To link the web application to an application domain

1	In the Web Applications folder, right-click the web application and select Link Application Domain.

2	In the Available Application Domains area, link the application domain(s) to the web application.
