Configuration steps > Mapping document types and metadata

Mapping document types and metadata
Before you can run your StreamServer application and store documents, you must map the document types and metadata that your StreamServer application uses to document models and properties in ELS.
You can also (optionally) map a StreamServe document type to one or more Content Server categories and map each StreamServe metadata to a Content Server attribute.
Adding new metadata or document types to a Project
If you add new metadata or document types to your Design Center Project after you have made the mapping, you must map these before you can run your StreamServe application.
Compatibility with 5.5 EP1 Projects
From version 5.6 of OpenText StreamServe, StreamServe applications map the document types and metadata at runtime based on the contents of the elsmap.xml file, which is located in the working directory.
If you mapped document types and metadata with StreamServe 5.5 EP1, you can use the strselsmetadatamap.xml map file with newer versions of StreamServe applications. However, if you remap the document types and metadata with a StreamServe version later than 5.5 EP1, then the StreamServe application uses the new elsmap.xml and ignores the old strselsmetadatamap.xml file.
