Modifying the Composition Center-enabled Process
Template versions
Each Process that is used as a template in Composition Center is assigned a template version number. The template version is stored together with the template in the StreamServe repositories. For more information, see Template storages.
Modified templates
If you modify the template, the template version is automatically increased when you save the Process. When a redeployed template version exceeds the existing template version, Composition Center recognizes the template modifications and any document definitions based on the template are automatically unpublished.
Document definitions based on modified templates must be republished
When the business user logs in to Composition Center, the user receives notifications for the document definitions that are based on the modified template. The business user must attend to and republish the document definitions before they can be used in document production again.
After being republished, document definitions based on the updated template are used when creating new documents.
Not all modifications affect the template
Not all Process modifications affect the actual template. For example, the template is not affected if you update a text in a StoryTeller document. Modifications that do not affect the template do not result in an increased template version. Such modifications are immediately reflected in the output documents without republish in Composition Center. For more information, see Modifications and template versions.
Promoting previous versions of document definitions
As long as the template version and the Project version remain unchanged (that is, are the latest template and Project versions), business users can view, promote and copy previous versions of document definitions based on this template.
