Managing fonts

The following fonts are the default fonts in the Composition Center text editor:

•	Arial – Regular, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic.

•	Courier New – Regular, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic.

If no font is selected in the text editor, Arial is used for sections created in StoryTeller and Times New Roman is used for sections created in PageOUT.

You can add more fonts to the Composition Center text editor by updating the mcesettings.xml file.

If you redeploy the WAR file for StreamStudio, for example to apply a hotfix, any customizations made to the configuration file are overwritten. To keep customizations, you can use an external directory outside the portal root for your configuration files. See Keeping customized configuration files in the Control Center documentation.

All fonts that are used in the text editor must also be available to the StreamServer application.

Adding fonts to the Composition Center text editor

1	Open the mcesettings.xml file in a text editor. The file is located in:

<Portal root>\<Portal name>\WEB-INF\settings

Note:

If you use an external directory (outside the portal root) for the configuration files, you must update the file in this directory.

2	In the theme_advanced_fonts setting, add the font using the following syntax:

<option value="font_name">font_display_name</option>

Where:

–	font_name is the name of a font.

–	font_display_name is displayed in the drop-down list in the editor.

3	In the theme_advanced_fontsize setting, add the non-standard font sizes using the following syntax:

<option value="font_size">font_display_size</option>

Where:

–	font_size is the font size.

–	font_display_size is displayed in the drop-down list in the editor.

4	Save the changes.

5	Restart the Java application server to apply the changes.

Making fonts available to the StreamServer application

All fonts used in the text editor in Composition Center text editor must be available to the StreamServer application that formats and distributes the document.

When the Design Center Project is exported, all fonts used within the Project are automatically included in the export file and available to the StreamServer application. If a font is available in the Composition Center text editor, but not used in the Project, you must import this font to a resource set connected to the Platform.

To import a font

1	In Design Center, open a resource set connected to the Platform.

2	Right-click the resource set, and select Import Font.

3	Specify the font to import, and click OK.
