Configuring a rule (optional)

In Design Center, you can use scripting functions to create more advanced and flexible rules than the ones composed in Composition Center.

Exporting and uploading rules

When you export the Project, rule files are created. You must inform the business user where the rule files are stored, and the business user must upload the rule files to Composition Center.

Note:

You cannot create rule files by using the Extract To File command in the resource set.

If you update a rule in Design Center, you must re-export the Project. The business user must then upload the updated version of the rule to Composition Center. If the rule is used in production (that is, applied on a document definition that is published), the business user must republish the document definition.

Prerequisites

•	The resource set containing the rule resources must be connected to the Message configuration in the Project.

•	You must give the rule resource a descriptive name to inform the business users of when to use the rule since the rule statement is not visible in Composition Center. Once the Project is deployed, we do not recommended that you change the rule resource name.

To configure a rule

1	In Design Center, open the resource set.

2	Right-click in the resource set and select New > Rule.

3	Give the new rule resource a descriptive name.

4	In the resource set, double-click the rule resource.

5	In the Rule editor, replace MyEvalFunc with a unique name for the rule function. Do not use white spaces in the function name.

6	Enter the rule function in the rule view.

7	Click Check Syntax.

8	Save the rule function and close the Rule Editor.
