Document types and metadata Document types are used to categorize documents, for example, as letters and statements. Document types are configured as resources in Design Center. Each document type is assigned one or more metadata groups. For example, a group named Customer metadata containing metadata such as Name, Surname, and Category. In Composition Center, business users use metadata to do the following: • To make text content dynamic and to personalize texts. For example, to include customer names in letters. • As conditions for rules. For example, by using country code as a condition for including specific texts in documents. • As sample data when previewing documents.
